Back to reality

So here I am, forced to realize that I've got to work every day for the next three weeks. It's a little weird, since I haven't done that in... umm... 6 weeks or so. But it's back to reality for a bit, just before a three week hiatus for Christmas break.

Had a good weekend up in Flagstaff. Got to see snow for the first time in about a year... and I can't say that I enjoyed it too much. It was nice to see, but the cold weather was difficult for me to deal with. I wasn't exactly well prepared for two straight days of rain/sleet/snow. The weather was nice inside though. Kids didn't do so well either. We finished 5th (out of 16) in a tournament where we should've finished no lower than 2nd. The kids just didn't show up to wrestle very well and two that should've won the tournament both finished 3rd. Maybe they learned something about their lack of preparation in practice.

It is tough to perform at the 7,000 foot elevation though, especially when you're used to doing it at 1500 feet. I think that had a lot to do with why we didn't do so well. The teams who did best were from northern AZ... and that probably has a lot to do with them being used to the air. But not everything to do with it... our guys still should've performed better.

Spent most of the day grading. I'm trying to finish up some papers that should've been done a week ago. I'm not exactly motivated to be grading papers today. At least my Seniors are presenting their research all week, so I won't have to "grade" their papers quite as harsh. It helps that I've looked at all of the drafts too, so I won't have to deal with any grammar issues and I can focus solely on the information in the paper.

Should be a good week... Presentations for the Seniors.. a half-day on Wednesday, and a lot of grammar review. Next week will be nice too... and then we're into the final week of the semester. Amazing how quickly this year has gone by.

Seems to go quicker every year.
