Back to work

Had to go back to work in a number of different aspects today, and, admittedly, it wasn't easy.

The kids didn't really want to be there, I wasn't quite on my game, and I honestly think that there were a lot of people suffering from a Thanksgiving hangover....

I got to school around 5 so that I could finish reviewing all of those Senior essays. I'm going to push my Frosh essays back until Thursday, so I can have a bit more time to get through them all. It's going to be tough to get through them though with the week that I've got ahead of me.

We did make a little bit of progress with The Odyssey though, so that's something to build on the rest of this week.

The problem that creeps up though is that I'll be missing my 6th period Frosh Comp class tomorrow to complete "Mini-Bus" training at the District office. I'll miss 6th and 7th hours on Wednesday to attend a Wrestling meet in downtown Phoenix... and I mean DOWN TOWN. Then, of course, I'll be gone all day on Friday to be at a wrestling tournament up north for the weekend.

Without me in class, it's going to be a very difficult time for my kids to get through the story, so I'm trying to figure some ways around it. I might try and get the video so that they can watch part of the story while I'm away.... then we can go back through it and review the events when I get back to school. Either that or I'll just leave some discussion questions for the sub and hope that he/she gets through them with my kids... and actually holds a "discussion" and not a "let me tell you what I think" session. In several ways, I'm thinking the video would be my best option.

Back to work... Four more weeks until Christmas Break. And I will need each and every one of those days to finish up with my Freshman curriculum.

We did win our Wrestling match tonight though, so as a team (Frosh, JV, Varsity), we're undefeated. We've got some kids who will contend for a state title this year.. and two that I think have the ability to actually win. Maybe three.

What are we down to? 5 more in a row? This hasn't been easy.
